Ian Clarke PhD brings more than 30 years of research expertise to his position as the Professor in orthopedic Research at Loma Linda University (LLU) in the Dept. of orthopedics. He is also Director of the Orthopedic Research Center (LLUORC) newly located on the Rehabilitation Institute on the East Campus. This includes the Peterson Tribology Research Lab, Wear Debris Lab, Clinical Outcomes, and Implant Retrieval Labs. Many orthopedic Implant companies have recognized the need for independent testing of medical products and have routinely chosen the LLUORC labs for their university-based collaborative projects and contracts.
Dr. Clarke obtained his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and his professional memberships include, the American Ceramic Society, the American Hip Society, the American Institute for Medical and BioEngineering, the American Society of Lubrication Engineers, the Biomaterials Society, the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine, the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty and the orthopedic Research Society. His expertise has brought to the LLUORC the collaboration of scientists from all over the world to form a “global village” of orthopedic R&D expertise. Under Dr. Clarke’s guidance the Peterson Tribology Laboratory has established a global scientific position in hip and knee R&D.
