Currently Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department orthopedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, Michael Ries, M.D. views his role on FARM’s Board of Directors as an opportunity to encourage advancements in orthopedic treatments.
Dr. Ries received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was a Surgical Intern at North Shore University Hospital in New York and in 1988 completed his orthopedic Residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
In addition to being Board Certified in New York and California, Michael Ries is a Diplomat of the American Board of orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of orthopedic Surgeons. Since 1996 he has been a Consultant Editor for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (American). Dr. Riesâ professional memberships include the orthopedic Research Society, Association for Arthritic Hip and Knee Surgery, American orthopedic Association and the American Academy of orthopedic Surgeons.
